The S'more the merrier

When working with larger families, I often notice that it seems overwhelming for the adults and it doesn't have to be that way! We all want the session to run smoothly but let's be honest. When you're working with a large number of people and a large number of kids varying in ages and comfort levels, it won't always run smooth and that is A-OKAY.

I go-with-the-flow and strongly encourage the adults ahead of time to follow suit. I have a special intuition in knowing when children are or are not ready for me and trust me when I say that they always open up to me. I make it fun, allow the to run and let them be silly because this breaks them out of their shells. That's when the magic happens and they begin to trust that I'm a friend and not a stranger!

So let's take some tips from this amazing extended family session:

  1. TRUST ME when I say, let them run; let them run. If they cry; let them cry. I'll capture those tender moments and know that the smiles will also be there and I'll document those too!

  2. Chose a location of meaning; a place of familiarity. This allows the whole family to feel at ease and adds sentimental value to your photograph memories.

  3. Plan something fun! This family had a bonfire, popcorn, treats, hot chocolates and WHIP CREAM. This allows me to capture you're family moments without the posing and this is the best way to create memories through your photographs!

Let's take a peak now and see how how the above tips make your session NOT overwhelmingly stressful!
